How to Study Abroad in High School

Deciding to study abroad in high school is both rewarding and challenging. The Beekman School offers a SEVIS-certified program for international, college-bound high school students. International students who study at Beekman gain a competitive edge when applying to universities. Our student-focused program provides a unique approach to personalized learning, and is consistently ranked as one of Manhattan’s top choices for student/faculty interaction. Interested students should read how the Beekman study-abroad program prepares graduates for college.

While all students are encouraged to apply to The Beekman School, we require international students to submit a TOEFL or IELTS score with their application. For students who score below a scale score of 80 on the TOEFL or a band score of 6.5 on the IELTS, The Beekman School requires enrollment in our ESOL course (additional fees apply).

An International High School in Manhattan

We are an international high school centrally located in Midtown Manhattan, committed to preparing high school students for university academics and futures beyond the classroom. Beekman is unlike any traditional high school. Our progressive teaching methods and small class sizes offer both supplemental private for-credit instruction and tutoring. Our one-to-one learning center, The Tutoring School, offers students individualized test preparation for exams such as TOEFL, SAT, and ACT. In addition, we offer international students ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) classes designed to strengthen their English comprehension skills. Our personal, intensive college placement program encourages academic achievement, providing students the best possible preparation for specific professional and academic goals. Beekman’s supportive environment enables both students and faculty opportunities to share experiences, exchange information and discover interests. The Beekman School welcomes applications from all students attending US- and internationally-accredited schools. Our rolling admissions policy allows prospective high school students the opportunity to begin at any time during the academic year.

Navigating the SEVIS Program and Attaining A Student Visa

The Beekman School is a SEVIS-approved (Student & Exchange Visitor Information System) college preparatory private high school dedicated to personalized education. Students applying to The Beekman School must submit an application and schedule an interview with the school’s headmaster, George Higgins. International students unable to attend an in-person interview should arrange for a representative to visit the school or plan for an online interview. Once accepted, The Beekman School provides students with Form I-20 to use when applying for a student visa. To schedule an interview or for more information on how to study abroad at The Beekman School through the SEVIS program, please contact us.
