Gender Perceptions

Gender Perceptions Course at The Beekman School

This is a semester-long course that examines the effects of various cultural practices on gender perceptions throughout history. The topics will introduce students to new ways of thinking about gender both within and outside of their own society. The goal of the course is to help students achieve a level of awareness of how gender affects societal expectations, relationship dynamics (including political, economic, and social), and the evolution of societies throughout history. The course is designed in a similar framework to a college seminar, therefore students will have the daily opportunity to discuss and debate the issues brought up by our readings.
